Telecom company Idea Cellular may offer hourly packs for 4G/3G data usage at Rs 22, a report claims. After Vodafone announced its hourly voice and data packs couple of weeks ago, Idea may be offering something similar, though it is yet to officially announce or fully roll out the offer.
Vodafone sells its hourly 4G/3G unlimited data pack at Rs 16, while the hourly voice pack comes at Rs 7. Airtel doesn’t offer any 4G hourly data pack, though it has a similar Rs 5 pack for 2G data.
According to the report by Telecomtalk, Idea pushed an SMS to its users informing about the hourly data pack that will cost Rs 22. But the the USSD code mentioned in the message is currently not working.
Information about the pack appeared earlier on Twitter when a user posted a picture showing the Idea’s hourly pack priced at Rs 14 and the pack would be available starting January 19. But we have not noticed anything in this regard on an Idea connection, while the company’s spokesperson failed to comment anything about it.
Though Airtel and most other companies don’t have an offer of this kind, it won’t be surprising if the bring it any time soon. A fierce telecom war is ensued between the operators after Jio announced to offer its free services in September and extended it to March 31, 2017. Under the Jio banner, Reliance is offering free 4G data, while calling and messaging is free for life on its SIM.
